Why Plant in Containers?

Growing plants in containers is a very satisfying experience.  In pots, plants are visible close up, and because they are portable and filled with soil of our choosing, they allow us to grow a wide palate of plants in a carefully cultivated environment.

Planting in pots is the most practical way to reflect your love of color, texture, or fragrance, or to showcase the most spectacular specimens within an outdoor space.

What kind of plants can you put in containers?

There is an exhaustive selection of plants available for containers.  The biggest considerations are the season in which you are planting, your budget, the scale of your outdoor space, and of course the amount of light within the space.

How do I take care of my containers?

Each contained garden will need a specific set of care instructions depending on your plants, the space in which they thrive, and the time of year.  We will advise you on the best way to care for your containers.  In addition, a maintenance contract is available for purchase upon completion of planting.

What is a maintenance contract and its benefits?

A maintenance contract is an agreed upon plan for care of your new container garden that will help maintain their health and beauty.  It is our guarantee of the following:

  • Seasonal refresh of the container(s)
  • Annuals for one blooming cycle, usually 3 months
  • A quarterly visit to dead head, clean up and prune
  • Occasional update of expired perennials

How much should you expect to budget for your container garden?

Typically, container garden prices fall in the following ranges by size.  This includes the pot, soil, and plants:

  • Small 10 – 14″ diameter / $200 to 250
  • Medium 15 – 18″ diameter / $250 to 325
  • Large 20 – 24″ diameter / $325 to 400

Every space is different, but a good starting point for a container garden collection (pots, soil, and plants) is between $600 – $1000.  Have your own pots?  We’re happy to use those too.  A site visit and design consultation with a fee of $120 will assist in establishing the exact price, and will be credited towards the final design cost.
