Our 2022 Feature Garden Display: A Pacific Northwest Ode to Hygge

We were honored to be asked by the Northwest Flower and Garden Show to create a City Living display for their 2022 show.

The theme of our display was A Pacific Northwest Ode to Hygge. Hygge is a Danish word that evokes a sense of warmth and wellbeing through the practical and sublime. We embraced the intrinsic artistic nature of plants to highlight the contrast between the bare branches of winter and the vibrant thrush of spring. Our plantings, enhanced by modern furnishings, cozy sheepskins, flickering lights and an imagined fire, created an inviting place to sit and relax with friends.

This was a new venture for us – we had a great experience creating a feature garden from scratch and learned a lot along the way. We had lots of fun, met some really wonderful gardeners and designers, and received very positive feedback from the garden show visitors.
